Innovative saxophone and bass trombone ensemble, the Plaustra ensemble, is husband and wife team, Lois Hicks-Wozniak and Matthew Wozniak.  Formed in 2007, they have performed transcriptions, original compositions by Kevin Ames, James Stephenson and Daniel Schnyder and commissioned works by Carter Pann, Rob Deemer, Gregory Wanamaker and Zae Munn among others. Their commissioned piece, Duo for Alto Saxophone and Bass Trombone by Carter Pann, premiered at the Eastern Trombone Workshop in Washington, D.C., the Region 8 North American Saxophone Alliance Conference and the Crane School of Music Single Reed Summit, paved the way for other works Pann has written for saxophone. The Wozniaks were featured guest artists at the International Trombone Festival and are frequent performers at national and regional conferences.
